TYLP x Cheney FC create activities for 'SAY campaign'.

We are looking for a group of 30 boys who live in the Swindon area and are aged between 7-12 to sign up to a host of football training activities. The first one will take place at the Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon on Saturday 20th October, 2-4pm.

Our first step is a series of training sessions, so on this day the lads from Cheney FC will be there to teach you all a few skills. The pitch will be split into 4 with each section consisting of- the correct way to pass, how to head a ball, the correct way to tackle, and how to strike a ball.
There will then be a penalty shootout and a 15 minute game at the end to put all their new skills into action.

We are also looking for a group of 8 girls who live in the Swindon area and are aged between 7-12 to sign up as TYLP cheerleaders. The first session will take place at Oasis Leisure Centre between 2-4pm alongside the football activities. The aim of the sessions is for the girls to be official cheerleaders of the soon to be TYLP mini league.

The Youth Life Project, along with Cheney FC and other sporting associations will be working together to host a range of football and other sports related activities, such as boxing, netball, and skateboarding. This is a new incentive set up for youths in Swindon as part of The Youth Life Project's' SAY campaign'. (Swindon's Active Youth campaign)

We will eventually set up a TYLP mini league, along with a sqaud of TYLP cheerleaders!
So if you know someone who would like to get involved then please contact me danielletylp@gmail.com or if you are aged between 7-12 and would like to come along then please have your parent/guardian contact TYLP founder Danielle Brown- danielletylp@gmail.com  and sign up today!

The Reggae Garden Festival 2012 - The Review

What an amazing event The Reggae Garden Festival turned out to be. The music was amazing, the venue was perfect, the sun was shining, and the atmosphere was friendly with a contagious vibe that everyone caught on to. 'One Love' was definitely the theme throughout the day as people danced, Jamaican  flags were waved, and almost all sung along and got involved with the performances. It really was one big happy family.

Another factor that made an excellent event was that it was very family orientated with a bouncy castle for the children as well as face-painting, nail art, and hair braiding provided by The Youth Life Project. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces and happy children having fun and getting involved.

The success of last years event and the fact that this years topped it by miles, has left everyone excited for what's in store next year!

It was a massive turn out and everyone had amazing time. Events like these that show of Swindon's diversity are second to none and are much needed as well as enjoyed.

Congratulations to AJ and Bully who organised this event, you've done Swindon proud!

Here are a few pics of the day for those unfortunate souls that didn't attend..

Britain set to have wettest summer in 100 years!

New statistics from the Met Office show that 2012 is set to be the second wettest summer since records began.
Summer officially ends at the start of September but so far the rainfall for the past three months has been the heaviest for 100 years.
Figures up until 29 August show that 366.8 mm of rain fell across the UK this summer making it the wettest summer since 1912!
The Met Office said this summer is also likely to be one of the dullest on record with just 399 hours of sunshine up to August 28. This would make it the least sunny  since 1980 when there were 396 hours of sunshine.
Of the three summer months, August looks set to be the driest and sunniest across the UK with 105.5mm (4.15in) of rain to August 29, according to the Met Office.
The UK's second wettest summer since 1912 was in 2007 when 357.8mm (14.09in) of rain fell
